RE: Developers and Programmers

Did you ever read 1984? Can you say "political correctness"?
We have Developers and Software Engineers - not programmers. You can
aspire to be something great as an Engineer, but a programmer? That is
so drool and dead-end.

It's all in the way you say things. Hype it and make it more exciting
sounding. It's a career, not a job!

Oh my! Phew! I can't believe it! While on break from our training,
I just had a new, young "developer"(Oh my! Phew!) asked me: "Ed, why
did they call us programmers and now why do they call us developers"?
For the first time in many decades, I was speechless! I just didn't
know what to say to this new, young "developer"(Oh my! Phew!) without
breaking his spirit. hehe.

My question is (and I asking all of you): What should have been my
reply?
