Moving from ESE to Workgroup Unlimited

Moving from ESE to Workgroup Unlimited

Ashok,

There are a few more limitations in WSUE like

They say the code base is same so in terms of performance I don't think there is any difference if you are within the set limits for the license.

Other points are

- No support for multiple fixpaks
- No support for connection concentrator

Pls. ref. the following for further details

1.Comparison of the various editions

http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/db2/library/techarticle/0211zikopoulos/0211zikopoulos.html

2. Which edition is right for you.

Often you can negotiate a discount on ESE license itself ..Tell the sales guy that you are going to migrate to Oracle ;)

Thanks and Regards
Praveen

Subject: [SPAM] - Moving from ESE to Workgroup Unlimited - Number of
numbers in MIME From exceeds maximum threshold

We are planning a move from DB2/UDB/Enterprise 8.2.3 to UDB/Workgroup
Unlimited/8.2.3 - mainly to save money. Currently DB2 runs
Linux/AMD/Opteron 2.6 kernel on 2-CPU/16GB-memory boxes.. Here are my
questions:

#1) I understand the restrictions of Workgroup Unlimited (WSUE) - 4
CPUs/16GB memory etc. In addition to these restrictions, has anyone come
across any other restrictions or limitations?

#2) Since we are moving from Enterprise to Workgroup Unlimited, do you
see any performance issues? I want to make sure that there is no
deterioration in DB2 performance as a result.

Any other nuggets of info on Workgroup Unlimited will be useful.

Thanks a lot!
