If the database is not "activated", then you should do a "db2 force
applications all" prior to issueing your backup command.

users are out of their applications.

phantom application?

UDB 8.1
Does this happen to you ? I encountered this a couple of times.
When I try to do offline backup database, it comes back saying database
in use.
When I do a list applications , i dont see and application connected.
I have to db2stop force and db2start.
Any way to avoid shut down UDB instance?
