I think that you must upgrate your instance before.

1- connect to system AIX as root ...
2- goto DB2_DIR (/usr/lpp/db2_08_01/instance) OR (/opt/IBM/db2/V8.1/instance) ....
3- execute "./db2iupdt <instance_name>"
4- su - <instance_name>
db2stop force
db2start

Hi,

I installed DB2 UDB v81 on AIX5 and applied FixPak 4a. I performed the
entire post installation task after installing FixPak 4a. My DB2 Admin
Server was up and running, but when I run the db2start command it was
hanged. I have not received any message (warning/Error/information).

Could you please guide me how to how to start my database so that I can
proceed.
