I have extracted the SQL and run it from different clients (all Unix
Machines) running
different versions of the UDB client (from Version 7 fixpak 6 to Version 8
fix pak 5 )
they all behave the same way .

The client may possibly use a different NULLID.SQL*** package. I am sort of
puzzled as I have never seen it
act like that before.

Question is why should the access path change when run from the Client ?
This is a vendor application which generates a huge sql which I captured .
Changing that code is not a straight forward issue .

sql statement has any sort activity , like distinct , group by or orader by
clause
run explain on it , check access path.
based on it take good option.

Find out what node you are connecting to from the client as opposed to what
node you log on to on the AIX machine.

Question on Tempspace filling up.
UDB Gurus,
I' m having this strange situation where I'm running a query on the
database server it takes
about 10 mins and hardly uses any temp space . When we run this same query
from a client
machine, It takes about 1hour 30 mins and chews up all the temp space (
Currently it's 6GB of temp )
the size of the database is about 2.5 GB and It's UDB EEE version 8 fix
pak 5 with 5 partions runing on AIX .
Any ideas on any registry values or config parameters to change ?
