Before deleting transaction logs, it would be better if you take the dump of
these logs first (i.e. copy all the logs and paste it into a safe location
or create a CD, cause logs would be required for point in time recovery)
Process of deleting offline transaction logs
Take a db configuration through clp "get df cfg"
Note the value of "First active log file" say it is "S0000079.LOG". Now you
can delete logs earlier than "S0000079.LOG"

Subject: Deleting transaction logs
Dear all,
I am new to the database and also fresh to the DB2 administration. I have
enabled the transaction logging which is working fine. But my problem is
due to the size of database i got transaction log file getting created
every minute .
1. Can i delete the transaction logs which are old
2, will i require any of these logs when i have to restore a database.
3. How do i enable the compression on the backup happening during the
automatic maintenance.
Regards
Praveen Kumar Kurra
