RE: Problem setting up a contact in DB2 Replication monitoring

Hi,

I have set the LAN mailserver when I started the monitor process (this is
recorded in the IBMSNAP_MONPARMS table Email_Server column). I have also set
the same SMTP server up in the Task centre and it works OK there. For some
reason the Replication Centre doesn't seem to pickup/recognise the SMTP
hostname whereas the Task centre does.

Regards,

Ross.

Hi
If there isn't a SMTP server on the Windows box itself, you supply the DNS
hostname of your LAN/WAN mailserver. I notice it's blank in the error
message below. The default port number looks right and you can crosscheck
against local settings in system32\drivers\etc\services. . The mailserver
hostname is rarely listed in ...\drivers\etc\hosts
You could try setting in Task Centre - Tools - Contacts and testing there -
it should percolate through to the Replication Center.
I've been using IBM's Replication Monitor Center (RMC) for the past few
months, it's is a far superior beast to the RC - one the few Java apps I've
met that impresses with the forethought and intelligent thinking that went
into its design. If you wait a while, you may even see my name on the V7
manual!
The licence is peanuts - try http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/db2rmc for
a 90 day 'try and buy' download.

Problem setting up a contact in DB2
Replication monitoring

I am trying to use the Windows DB2 Replication tool to setup replication
monitoring for an apply process. When I setup a Contact and try to test the
connection I get:

java.sql.SQLException: SQL22295N Unable to communicate successfully with
the SMTP server at host "" using port "25". Reason code = "2".

I have tried this from the Health Centre and it works OK (ie setting up a
contact and testing the e-mail generation). I have set the SMTP server when
I started the monitor (on the apply process). Any ideas what I haven't
done?
The apply environment is DB2 v8.2 on AIX.

TIA,

Ross Temple
