You are correct. The STRIP and the TRIM functions are not in DB2
Version 8.2. However, they are in DB2 Version 9. BTW, you can simulate
the STRIP function with the code listed below.

select ltrim(rtrim(' abc ')) from sysibm.sysdummy1;
