You need a client instance on the client. db2icrt -s client xxxxxx

That is fine, but then from where do I run the db2clp. If the server is
installed and we define an instance , we can login as the instance owner,
go
to sqllib, run the db2 profile and then go ahead with catalogging, but if
no
instance is defined and we just have UDB runtime client, then from where do
I get the db2 prompt or the db2clp.

Thanks

You need to catalog 2 things :

1 Node :
catalog tcpip node <nodename> remote <ipadd of db2 server> server <port
number of db2 server>
2 DB:
catalog db <DBNAME> AT NODE <nodename>

Hope this helps,

Hi Gurus,

I have installed only the UDB client on my solaris machine. Now I want to
define a connection from the solaris machine to a server which is on a
Windows box. Can you people let me know as to how do I go about doing that.

If the client is on windows then we can easily open the GUI tools and
define
the connection, but how do we define the connection when only the client is
installed on the Unix machine.

Thanks,
AB
