Hello all

I am trying to install v8.1 on united linux 1.0 the gui installer seems
to run fine but exits at the finish button with no exit error messages
or anything of the sort in the logs

I tried using db2setup -d which loaded the gui fine but same thing
exited after pressing the finish button.

if I run from shell db2_install it exits normally saying installation
was successful

but of course nothing was configured such as users and such

so I am figuring that I should be able to add the users and groups
create an instance from cli

I did do this on a prior test install and it worked ok except the tools
catalog was did not exist and I was sure how to create it.

I also started db2admin start as root and was unable to shut it down

but the dasusr1 or any other user on the system could not start it

I eventually killed everything uninstalled db2 entirely and am trying to
do it properly via the gui but it just exits after pressing finish.

The log files I am finding to be created are in /tmp
/tmp/db2_install_log.6282
/tmp/db2_install_log.6339
/tmp/db2setup.err
/tmp/db2setup.his
/tmp/db2setup.log
/tmp/db2setup.trc.gui
/tmp/db2setup.trc.ure

Is there a way to create an answer file so that when running install
from cli the users instances tools catalog etc. will be created
