Thank you for all your suggestions and questions - not only I find them
all very helpful, they're almost like a compass guiding me closer and
closer to the problem.
As a short term fix, I'll looking into increasing buffer pool size while
development has started on tackling the low hanging fruits. As a matter of
fact, we have identified one particular long running query where response
time was shortened from 3 minutes to seconds just by eliminating a dirty
predicate RTRIM() in the WHERE clause.
FYI - this email thread is about a WEBSITE application running on DB2 V8
fp7 on AIX 5.2.
Although we're behind on patches and fixpaks (DB2, O/S and WebSphere etc)
our website has been running smoothly. The current focus is doing minimum
amount of work that can resolve the occasional performance hiccups since
the website will be outsourced and completely re-engineered in the near
future.
Wish everyone a great weekend and thank you again for all the tips I
receive.
TGIF ^_^
Cheers
Ray
