RE: Need Help for DB2 restore

RE: Need Help for DB2 restore

We don't know your target DB2 version nor its OS.
If you are going Windows to Windows, and you plan to go to DB2 V8 or V9, you
probably will have to restore to DB2 V7 first, then to V8 or V9. So that
will be two restore.
You do not need to redirect unless you want to redefine the containers of
the current V6 tablespaces.
Take the V6 image, get DB2 V7 installed and restore with replace existing.
This will automatically migrate your DB to V7. Backup that db.
Take that image and on the target server (Server2) install the DB2 version
you need (V8 or V9) and restore, as a new db, the V7 image to Server2. This
will also migrate your image to the current version you need.

If the target disk system is different and you need to redefine the
containers, you will use redirect option only on the last restore.
Hope this helps, Pierre.

Hi,

Need some help for DB2 restore.

We are running one DB2 (Version 6) Database Server in a Windows NT box
(Server1). There is a DB in this Server named DB1. I have the latest
backup available with me. I want to restore this to another Server
(Server2) with a different Database name (DB2).

We tried the redirect option but it is failing.

I appreciate if you could provide us some information (steps) on how to
restore this.

Thanks in Advance
