You might want to turn off intra_parallel and change the maxdergee to 1 .

db
cfg change i can do to prevent to cooking of a processor.

aix 5200-08 db2 8.1.12 cpu 9 memory 28 Gig

MAX_QUERYDEGREE = 3
INTRA_PARALLEL = yes

DFT_QUERYOPT = 5
DFT_DEGREE = 1
CHNGPGS_THRESH = 30
NUM_IOCLEANERS = 6
