RE: DB2 Help

RE: DB2 Help

When implementing archive logging, you are using a technique designed
to save your logs for recovery purposes (as Ken notes, online
backups, tablespace recovery, some other benefits that dont readily
come to mind) If you look for the disadvantages, it would be that you
will have to architect a log policy and have resources to save those
database logs. Online backups can impact performance somewhat,
although there is a throttling capability in db2.
As for tweaking DB2/top-10-performance-bottlenecks that is a bigger
subject than a quick email in Lazydba. You can generally get DB2
configured well once and it doesnt require a lot of hand holding.
Some things should be different if you have a warehouse vs a
transactional system. There are some settings that have been
identified to help specific applications. Look me up at my website if
you want to talk further, offline.
