You'll need to set LOGRETAIN to RECOVERY and as you do LOGARCHMETH1 to /tasrget/path.
You have to create the /target/path before issuing the command.

A good practice is also to use INCLUDE LOGS in the backup command.
This will copy the active logs that are there during the backup to the same tartget patg. You need to have those available at all times to recover the db as it requires to be rolled forward at least to the end of the backup timestamp to be operational.
