RE: BETWEEN CLAUSE---Please Help!!!

I don't know much about oracle, but i think that's because to_char takes
binary_float as an argument. How about casting startnumber to
binary_float.

Subject: BETWEEN CLAUSE---Please Help!!!

Can you use a BETWEEN clause when comparing a VARCHAR column BETWEEN two
data variables that I am changing from FLOAT to VARCHAR? Both have
numbers in the table. Maybe someone can explain why I am getting this
error. Please help!!!!

AND CONTROL_NUM_IDENTIF BETWEEN
COALESCE(ORA.TO_CHAR(Startnumber), '') AND
COALESCE(ORA.TO_CHAR(Endnumber), '')

Error is

"STARTNUMBER" is not valid in the context where it is used.
