RE: TABLE REORG on Linux

RE: TABLE REORG on Linux

I thought (without looking at any doc) that it will first default to a clustered index, then the primary key, then the first unique index that was built. I could be totally wrong though. I'm doing the lazy thing and not researching it - but it sounds good. lol

Subject: RE: TABLE REORG on Linux

DB2 V8/V9 is for Linux/Unix/Windows.
It does the same thing for REORG on all platforms.
No index specified in the command will cause the empty rows/pages to be
reclaimed and this is true for both online and offline reorg.
The data rows may not necessarily be in the same sequence as they will move
from the end of the table to reclaim the space in the front end empty rows
and pages. So it does something!
Regards, Pierre.

Hi,

If you have a table that has no clustered index in LINUX, what happens
when you issue a REORG without specifying an index?
