Henry,
There's a lot to tuning any application that uses a dbms. From your message,
I assume that you are talking about UDB on the distributed envirnments(NT,
AIX or OS/2). The first step in tuning is identifying what is the current
performance level. From there you can identify the hotspots and slow
performers. A monitoring tool is invaluable for this, some companies that
provide tools are Quest and DGI. IBM also provides, within UDB, monitoring
tools. For starters, download a copy of the UDB System Monitor Guide and
Reference from the IBM website. It contains special instructions for
capturing SQL performance information.
DB2 Magazine which is free to professionals in the industry has many
articles on tuning. Plus the UDB Administration Guide provides valuable
information.

Hi,
What's considered the best technique for tuning db2/udb ? Can anyone
give me
some pointers to a good book or website on tuning methodology (or
better
still just tell me what you normally do that gets results! )
Regards,
Henry.
