Oh my! Phew! I have got to slow down on the "Red Stripes"! hehe.
After all that work (see below), I discovered that you could download a
Microsoft OLEDB Provider for DB2 and you don't need to convert varchar
columns. Ouch! Hehe.

Subject: FROM SQL SERVER 2005 (SSIS - OLE DB SOURCE - OLE DB
DESTINATION) TO DB2 (WINDOWS)
Importance: High

To All,
Oh my! Phew! Ouch! Hehe. I have been drinking mucho "Red Stripes"
trying to figure it how to move data from a SQL Server 2005 table to a
DB2 database, using SSIS components (OLE DB SOURCE and OLE DB
DESTINATION). I kept getting the old famous "Cannot convert between
Unicode and non-unicode string data types" error messages.

Then I tried "the COKE" and it started thundering, lightning, and
raining! We were having a thunderstorm! Hehe. But, I got an idea:
"Create a new SQL Server 2005 table from the original SQL Server 2005
table and change all the varchar columns to nchar". Next, I had to
select "NEW" in SQL Server 2005 SSIS OLE DB DESTINATION component and
ensure in the "CREATE TABLE" statement that the datatype for DB2 was
varchar and not nchar.

Oh my! Phew! It's worked! Hehe. Ouch! Now me be "ORACLE DBA"! So I
say to myself (between some more "Red Stripes") "Which is worse "SQL
Server or DB2"? hehe.

It's Fridayyyyyyy! Partyyyyyyy! Hehe.

Have a great Day!
