Wise,
You can run IA32 application on IA64 by the help of IA32EL. Because this IA32 application run as an MRTE application just like Java & .NET ones so the high performance of Itanium would not be brought out.
I sugggest that you should get an IA64 version of db2 and migrate your application to this platform, the process will be very easy and straightforward.

Xihua

Subject: 32-bit Instance on Itanium
I've got an Itanium box running Red Hat Linux here and it doesn't seem
possible to create a 32 bit instance. (Every time I run db2icrt -w 32,
I end up with a 64-bit instance anyway). Anyhow, could anyone confirm
whether or not it is possible to run a 32-bit database instance on
Itanium/Linux?
Thanks,
Greig Wise
