Hello,
I am running DB2 7.2 fixpack 6 (yes, mighty old) on AIX 5.1. The
requirement is slightly awkward. There is this large table which is hit
badly when jobs are run and the same table is used by a certain extraction
process at nights. We developed an index that helps the extraction process
but then it has adverse affects on the jobs. So we decided to set up
replication of "JUST THAT TABLE" so that the extraction process could use
that table instead. Since this is version 7.2, I am using the capture and
apply programs (am new to replication
too) and am starting the capture and apply programs with asnccp and
asnapply. Now, the question is, are there any obvious cons to this setup I
mentioned that I might have overlooked except the fact that the same box
gets hit (I intend to replicate the table onto either the same database or a
database on another instance which incidentally happen to be on the same
box). And also, how can I issue the capture and apply programs on system
start up - is it in the rc scripts that I need to do it or is there any
other method to do it? Awaiting valuable inputs.
Thank you
