RE: TSM backups in an HACMP environment

RE: TSM backups in an HACMP environment

If you did the default installation of TSM, you will find dsm.sys and dsm.opt at this location....

/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin (or bin64), depending which TSM client you are using (32bit or 64bit).

Note : You will find two dsm.sys and dsm.opt , api/bin and ba/bin. Which one you are using for DB2 depends upon DSMI_CONFIG environment variable.

In HACMP environment you would like to setup dsm.sys and dsm.opt something like this on both the nodes (Primary/Secondary)...

dsm.sys
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
SErvername tsmserveraddress
* COMMmethod SHAREdmem
TCPPort 1500
COMMmethod TCPip
TCPServeraddress tsmserveraddress
schedlogretention 7 d
passwordaccess generate
schedmode prompted
inclexcl /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/inclexcl
Schedlogname /log_dir/dsmsched.log
Errorlogname /log_dir/dsmerror.log
nodename applicationprodb
------------------------------------------------------------------------
dsm.opt
-----------------------------------------------------------------
SErvername tsmserveraddress
----------------------------------------------------------------

Note : The care you need to take is setup the "nodename" parameter same on both(Primary/Secondry dsm.sys). Otherwise TSM takes servername as default for backups and backups taken from primary won't be visible to secondary until you make the necessary chnages in dsm.sys of secondary sothat it looks like primary.

Please excuse the ignorance (we're allrelatively new to the technology
