I took a free 512 exam and passed it. The fee for these tests is $120, but
IBM offers free vouchers from time to time. I used the IBM DB2
certification book to prepare for 512, and I passed with a low-to-average
score. I highly recommend the DB2 All-in-One book for exam 512 & 513.
This is much more focused on passing the exam, and I would have done better
on the 512 if I had used that in conjunction with the IBM book. It has
practice exams at the end of each chapter, which is sorely missing from the
IBM book. I plan to use it exclusively for the 513 exam.

I've taken free test of DB2 certification in 2001. I
could not tell you anything about the testing fee, but
I do think the Certification guide published by IBM
would help for testing. IBM also provides a tool for
practice it, you can find it at
