Yes it does impact the SQL performance so you need to raise it and monitor.

Subject: MAXFILOP Settings
Hi ,
I need a clarification about MAXFILOP parameter in db cfg. In our case (DB2 8.1.6, Sun OS Release 5.8), the MAXFILOP is set 64 and when I took snapshot for database, I have come across Database files closed is 2822. I would like to know whether the value is alarming. In case if it is alarming what should I do. More over my DB is active from last 3 days. Please find the snapshot for database and maxfilop parameter setting in db cfg.
Database Snapshot
Database status = Active
Operating system running at database server= SUN
Location of the database = Local
First database connect timestamp = 23/05/2005 09:39:44.334703
Time database waited on locks (ms) = 0
Database files closed = 2822
DB CFG Settings
Max DB files open per application (MAXFILOP) = 64
Appreciate your inputs on this.
Regards
Harish
