FAQ/Admin Broadcast
List's Website is : http://www.lazydba.com
This FAQ is sent out monthly
Q1. What is a LazyDBA?
The philosophy behind the name is this: A lazy dba is a SMART dba. A lazy dba is too lazy to look after databases manually ,
so they've written their own scripts, or bought a 3rd party piece of software instead. A lazy dba doesn't want to be woken up
in the middle of the night by a pager, so they proactively monitor their databases to make sure that there are no surprises.
Remember, power steering was invented by a lazy engineer.
Q2. List Performance. How quickly does it take my message to get posted?
During peak times it takes only 25 minutes for your email to reach everybody. Off peak your email can reach everyone in under
a minute. Incredible but true.
Q3. What are the terms and conditions of the list?
The legal blah blah under which we all operate when we use the list is and always has been here:
http://www.lazydba.com/legal.html You are encouraged to read these terms if you get a chance. If you disagree with any of
these terms then you must leave the list. Any questions or comments about these terms should be sent to "henry (at) lazydba.com" and
**NOT** TO THE ORACLEDBA TECHNICAL DISCUSSION LIST ITSELF.
Q4. Why is the list spam free?
Blatant spammers (e.g. recruiters!) are immediately removed from the list, and their mail servers blacklisted. "Snipers" who
hang around waiting for an appropriate question to be asked , so they can advertise *their* wares, *and provide no other
useful input to the list* are cautioned. If it continues then they are also blacklisted. Recruiters should use the joinup link on the www.lazydba.com home page
Q5. I want to plug my wares but don't want to fall foul of the spam regulation!
We now have an upcoming advertising section, so see the website for more info.
Q6. To unsubscribe, if you have problems, see http://www.lazydba.com/unsubscribe.html
Q7. I'm getting too many emails.
Try subscribing to the "digest" version of the list. This is one email sent out at night which contains all the days chatter.
The opportunity to get involved in discussions is reduced obviously, as they've already happened! For more information on this and other list commands, send a blank email to [Email address protected] Please be aware that your email client and/or corporate mail server may not like the digest version of the list in rare cases. Nothing can be done about this, and you would have to stick with the normal version of the list. Again see http://www.lazydba.com/unsubscribe.html , for more info.
