The IBM culture is more mature and honorable than the Oracle culture. Hmmmmmmmmm! I thought they were all in it together!

Subject: Re: DBA Role
Oracle owns 50% of the ERP market and 50% of the database market. SAP is
trying to cut Oracle out of their ERP applications, but their customers will
ultimately make the choice. Thus Oracle and DB2 will continue to share the
other 50% of the ERP market owned by SAP. For large scale high performance
systems the only real choice is Oracle and/or DB2 today. SQL Server is a
toy database.
IBM owns Informix and RedBrick, and could buy Sybase any day. Oracle owns
RDB. Both IBM and Oracle are migrating customers as fast as possible to
their respective flagship databases.
IBM is a $100 billion company that makes most of their profit from services,
including Oracle services. Oracle is a $10 billion company and the 2nd
largest software company in the world with significant services as well.
DB2 has nothing close to Oracle's RAC and GRID technology. The IBM culture
is more mature and honorable than the Oracle culture.
Which is better for your career? You cannot go wrong by choosing either or
both.
