RE: Mainframe access to Open DB2 databases

Neil,

It is most certainly possible. You will need to utilize DRDA
functionality of MVS with Unix DB2 acting as an Application Server and
MVS working as an Application Requestor.

There is an IBM Red Book describing how to set up DRDA access from the
MVS including all CDB (Communication Data Base) entries that need to be
created in the MVS DB2 catalog.

You can download it for free from the Web.

You will also need to do 2 BIND's: 1) on the MVS side to include the
application package that will be accessing Unix DB2 into the general
local DB2 plan and 2) Bind the same application package remotely to the
Unix DB2 database.

Hope this helps.

Subject: Mainframe access to Open DB2 databases

Hello,
Is possible to access a db2 database located on a unix server from an
MVS
server?
(the opposite of DB2 connect)
