RE: SQL Cookbook

RE: SQL Cookbook

Dave,
My book is very different from the SQL Bible.
The SQL Bible is meant to be a complete tutorial into the whole
SQL language (DDL, procedures, locks, data types, DML, queries,
etc...),
while mine is a focus on queries (with one chapter on DML).

Basically, the SQL Bible is what you'd read before
reading my book. I think the two books compliment
each other; not compete with each other.

The SQL Bible has 2 or 3 chapters on queries;
all 600+ pages of my book is queries.

So, once you learn SQL, if you're looking for a
book that focuses on queries (from easy to complex)
like parse strings, transform rows into delimited lists,
compute running totals, build hierarchies,
and perform multi-columns transpositions,
then I think you'll enjoy my book.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

Regards,
Anthony

Have you compared this against the book SQL Bible?

Thanks,

To All,
There is a "buzz" in the IT arena in the states of Florida and
Georgia. I have received many phone calls and emails asking about the
book: SQL Cookbook by Anthony Molinara. Below is my response to these
phone calls and emails.

The book: SQL Cookbook by Anthony Molinaro, is an outstanding book. It
is a book long overdue. Anthony provides solutions to everyday, real
world problems with straight SQL for 5 databases: Oracle, DB2, SQL
Server, PostgresSQL, and MySQL. I have also run some of his solutions
in Sybase and Microsoft Access databases and those solutions worked,
also. Next, I decided to run some of his code in Crystal Reports and
Impromptu and that worked, also.

I recommend this book for all Developers, DBAs, Database Architects,
SQL Programmers, SQL Experts, Report Writers, Power Users, and anyone
who wishes to enhance and increase their knowledge in writing SQL. This
is a "must have" book.

For further info, visit the Amazon.com site (see link below). Also,
you may order this book through your local bookstore. I ordered my copy
of this book via the Borders bookstore here in Tallahassee, Florida.
