I'm not sure if this applies to other members of the DB2 Family, but I
downloaded DB2 Express-C for Linux
(it's free!! -
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/db2/udb/db2express/download.html ).
Now
it says very clearly on this web page that to upgrade to a more recent
fixpak level of DB2 Express-C, you must uninstall the previous level and
install the new level. This is a bit naff if you're used to ESE on Unix,
but
as I say, it's not clear whether the reason for this is because it's the
Linux platform, or whether it's because it's Express-C. Either way note
that
the uninstal/instal process will not remove user data (DAS and instances)
unless you have saved this user data in the same path were the DB2 code
resides (/opt/IBM/db2/V8.1/).

with the admin clients, you may have to un-install the old binaries and
then install the fix pack. I think it is all inclusive with the
admin client and run time client. I know its that way on windows.

Hi all,

I wonder if any of you have run into this error before. I currently
have db2 v8.1 administration client running on AIX 5.3.

bash-2.05b$ db2level
DB21085I Instance "edwd01" uses "64" bits and DB2 code release
"SQL08015" with
level identifier "02060106".
Informational tokens are "DB2 v8.1.1.48", "s040212", "U496793", and
FixPak "5".
Product is installed at "/usr/opt/db2_08_01".

I am getting the following error when try to upgrade from fixpak 5 to
fixpak 10.

"A DB2 product at version 8, release 1, modification 5, and service
level U496793 is already installed on this machine. The installation you
are attempting to perform is for DB2 at version 8, release 1,
modification 10, and service level U803920, so will not be permitted."

Your help is appreciated.
Thanks
Kate

Which collection does the PLAN point to.

Do you have a different PLAN name for each collection?

When you run the JCL, you tell it what PLAN to use.

Subject: Doubt regarding Platinum (Mainframes)

Hi all,

The following are the details for a Package(name AVI3001) when i view
the details through Platinum:

NAME BOUNDBY COLLECTION V O E

AVI3001 DBGRO0 SHWP1 N Y Y
AVI3001 DB2PROD TGTP1 Y Y N
AVI3001 DB2PROD TGTP9 Y Y N

1. Could anyone please expalain to me what are the expansions for V, O
and E?
2. When the package AVI3001 is executed, from which collection shall it
run, SHWP1, TGTP1 or TGTP9?
3. How does the value for V,O or E decide the collection from which the
package would be picked up?

Please do let me know your views on this.

~Arnab
