RE: join transitive closure is supported in DB2?

According to http://www.acronyms.ch/listAcronyms?from=J&to=K&page=15 , join
transitive closure "allows the DBMS optimizer to consider a join order other
than those made available explicitly by the query's WHERE clause".

The DB2 optimizer definitely considers any legitimate join order regardless
of how the WHERE clause is coded. It essentially re-writes the query (under
the covers) to get the best performance.

Good luck,
Dave

Subject: join transitive closure is supported in DB2?

Hi there,

did anybody knows if DB2 v8.1 liunx supports something referred to as
"join transitive closure " when writing sql?
any DB2 documenatation on this subject ?
How can be enabled?
What are the pros and cons of using it in DB2 ?

Thank you ,
