Hello everyone,
I'm running into a weird problem that I've not encountered before. I have a sql server 2000 sp3 install with 5 small db's on it. The os is 2000 pro. I can back these databases up and restore them on this server just fine, but if I try restoring them on a sql server 2000 sp4 or sql server 2005 box it fails and give's me an error 3242, the file on device ..... is not a valid mircosoft tape format backup set. Restore filelist is terminating abnormally. Has anyone encountered this before? I'm not finding much help at all on google.
What I've done so far, checkdb's against all databases complete with no error's. scandisk returns nothing, drives are not fragmented. As far as I can tell there is nothing unhealthy about the databases themselves. Any help or idea's would be great at this point!
