Subject: Alter Index -- Syntax

Dear All,

Today we rebuilded all the indexes created in our database so
as to make the databse work faster. The command given is

ALTER INDEX UFIN.BSH_LPK REBUILD NOLOGGING TABLESPACE FIN_TAB;

(syntax same for all other Indexes and it goes to around 800+).

To our surprise, we noticed that the database size has got increased to
500 MB. We are using Oracle 8 in Windows 2000/NT.

Can anyone tell me why it is happening like that and how to bringdown the
size.

Regadrs
