Re: A couple of questions

Re: A couple of questions

Hi Abhijit,
Although the answer is a bit late, but I think that you will find it useful:

(1) Control_file_record_keep_time, is used in case you are using RMAN. Control file has two type of storage, first, non-reuable and second, reusable, the RMAN activities, such backup(s) are recorded in the reusable section. If the Control_file_record_keep_time is not set properly, may lead to uncontroled growth of control file.

(2) While a table is locked it can not be dropped as all the DDL commands are 'COMMIT WITH NO WAIT' statements.

Hope, this answers your query, for any further details feel free to mail me.

Subject: A couple of questions

Hi gurus,

I am relatively new to this forum and beginning to grow with oracle. Please help me with the following simple questions.

*** what is the relevance of the init.ora parameter CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME. Please give an example.

*** Can a table be dropped by the schema owner while certain rows are locked on account of updates by other users.

Thanx in advance.

-Abhijit.
