RE: Dba's Role in a company

?!?!?!!?!?

I've seen in the past, programmers "upgrade" to DBA's... but a programmer can never be a programmer and a DBA at same time.

In my opinion, of course.

In my opinion, the DBA's job is to
take good backups and to
selectively restore a portion
of the backups each day
to test those backups.

Ordinary (mortal) programmers can do the rest.
