I agree! I also take out the trash, answer the phones, make the coffee
and clean out the pot, as well as watch other employees kids and their
animals if needed while on vacation...yes a DBA does a lot more than
required these days, but I don't mind, it makes the job very interesting
and definitely makes the day go by real fast!

I got to agree with that one. For me, Oracle DBA has evolved into
database administrator, IT support, software installation, VBA
development, Unix System Administrator, desktop support for anything
that might be considered a database (Access, FileMaker, FoxPro,
SQLBase), network troubleshooting, intranet development.

At least they haven't given me a mop yet to clean up the 'data dumps' in
those rooms with plumbing.
