I don't believe the 64 bit version will install properly on a non-Enterprise
version of Linux, meaning Red Hat or Suse Enterprise. A quick scan of
metalink supports this. However, there are always hacks.

The officially supported versions of Linux on the 64bit Opteron and 10G are:

64bit RedHat EL 3.0 or SUSE SLES8

For 9i, it appears an enterprise version of Linux is needed as well.
