For presentation purposes you could create a view on top of the table
to_char the salary field and translate the numbers 0-9 to "*'

I have an employee table where salary is the number field.
Now i want to mask all the numbers in the salary field with "*"
character. i.e

Ram 555 ***
Viji 1234 ****
