RE: LINUX Severe Oracle Memory problems

RE: LINUX Severe Oracle Memory problems

Have you checked /var/log/messages? You might have a hardware problem.

If not, then I would open up a Tar, which is the usual response to an
ORA-600. There might be a patch or workaround. You pay for support, I
would use it :-) You can also do a patch search

Also, have you run all the latest kernel patches for RH?

There are over 500 patches for 9.2.0.x and Linux. Chances are support can
point you to the correct patch quickly.

Good Luck!
Chris

Subject: LINUX Severe Oracle Memory problems

We have a severe problem with Oracle on Linux, and we're thinking of
moving away from linux.

We have Oracle 9.2.0.5 on Redhat Enterprise with bigpages enabled.

We keep getting memory errors similar to the following, which "only" seem
to affect the redo log buffer:

ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [092014A0] [SIGSEGV] [Address
not mapped to object] [0x10DF7A74] [] []
Thu Nov 11 15:45:30 2004
Errors in file /u01/app/oracle/admin/ocdb01/bdump/ocdb01_lgwr_15807.trc:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [2667], [1], [10986], [91158],
[35], [66050], [1997119136], [0]
Thu Nov 11 15:45:30 2004
LGWR: terminating instance due to error 600

The instance then falls over.

Has anyone come across this before?

Thanks in advace.
