Hi,
I'm trying to set up a Java application as a service in NT which depends on an
Oracle instance which is running as a service.
I'm getting the error message "ORA-01033 Oracle not initialized or shutdown in
progress" when the java service is started and tries to connect to Oracle.
Looking at the event viewer, I see that the oracle instance service starts,
but doesn't seem to start up it's processes (PMON etc) until after the java
service.
I have placed a delay in the startup of the java service in order to verify this,
when I boot the machine without the java service, oracle starts immediately,
when I boot the machine with the java service and a delay of 2.5minutes,
I see that even though the oracle service is flagged as running, it doesn't
start its processes until after 2.5 minutes - the same length of time of
the delay in the java service.
Has anyone seen this behaviour before, I reckon it may be more to do with NT
than Oracle, but I'm hopeful!
thanks,
Mark
