Re: Using archive to recover

Re: Using archive to recover

Assuming that the test database was built from the production database and
was opened with reset logs then it is not possible to use the production
archives as the test database is of a different incarnation.

The only way you can use the production archive logs is if you can restore
the test database back to the scn at which the test copy was taken, the
test database must also be in archive log mode,

Barry

What's the objective? The db is broken? Or do you need a special recovery?

if only the dbnames are different and one is valuable (Structure and data),
import and export...

I haven't verify and I'm not sure but it seems me impossible to apply the
archive on your test DB (which was not in archivelog mode, I presume).
