I recently upgraded an Oracle 9i.2.0 to 9.2.0.6 for a very important
client; everything was ok for the stand alone databases and the Oracle
clients. Until it came to upgrading the RAC database.
It went also fine; I had taken a full backup before the upgrade, but one
thing that ticked me off, there is no revert back once you apply the
patch, you just can’t uninstall the patch.
I once heard from another DBA that the installation did not go smoothly
and the database stop working and he had to restore the Oracle9i
installation that he backed up before applying the patch set.
My question is
Should Oracle give us the pleasure of rolling back in case of unsuccessful
installation?
Cheers
