RE: Any Hard Lessons about RMAN?

You could backup the repository database using a repository database on
another machine. They could be used to back each other up, in fact.

Somebody told me once, if you loose the repository, (assuming you are
using one), that all your databases are hostage as there would be no way
to recover any of the databases until first you recovery the repository
database. (Repository database is always backed up using the
controlfile option and not the repository option).

I may be using RMAN in my near future and was wondering, with Oracle 9i
(on
Sun 4800), if there are any REAL WORLD issues I should keep in mind
when
using RMAN. What are the DBA Horrors that have been a hard lesson
learned?
