Three ways to back up recovery catalog
1. Take backup of complete database having RMAN catalog
2. Take backup of onky tablespace that having data of RMAN catalog user
3. Take export of the RMAN user.

Depending upon your backup policies and your requirement , one has to decide
which one will suit your requirement.
