OS AUTHENTICATION ...

OS AUTHENTICATION ...

Hi all,

I have two (2) servers, SERVER1 and SERVER2, and I have users USER1 and USER2 as the Oracle OS account that I used when I installed Oracle. I want to use OS authentication to allow users to connect to my database. On SERVER1, I can do sqlplus "/as sysdba" when am logged in as USER1, on SERVER2, I can do sqlplus "/as sysdba" as USER2. Now, I want to be able to allow USER1 to connect to SERVER2 or USER2 to SERVER1 using the same sqlplus syntax. Can anyone tell me how should I be able to achieve this? Currently am on UNIX and I thought the only thing that I have to do is to make sure that I have both users created on both boxes with the same passwords on both machines and then I should be alright. But that does not seem to work. Can anyone advise on what am missing here?

I want to be able to do this on both UNIX servers and Windows. Any response will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
