I'm late in this, but I believe the source database has to be enterprise when using transportable tablespaces. Also automatic configurations of Standby may require enterprise. And moving from standard to enterprise may be easy, but going the other way is about impossible... on windows... but anyplace essentially you would start over.

Well. we did see the cost is a major factor that's why I started this
discussion. We will be impleamenting iSupport along with eBusiness. Oracle
says that we will be better off with Enterprise version. When I read their
white paper, dated October 2001, their were few things that worried me.
1. Increamental Backup/Recovery available in Enterprise edition and not in
Standard
2. Point-in-time tablespace recovery is available in Enterprise edition and
not in Standard.
Actually they arfe mostly related to backup and recovery. Also some issues
related to Data warehousing, Business Intelligence, Managebility etc.
I am not sure how of that functionality we will be loosing.
Thanks,
Abhay
