RE: CONFIGURING ANOTHER ARCHIVED LOG DESTINATION ... BACKUP of NOARCHIVELOG database

Hi,

Whether you are adding the archive log parameter in init.ora or in
spfile you need to bounce the database.

If the database is in noarchivelog mode import/export or cold backup
backup solution.

Regards
Anil

Subject: CONFIGURING ANOTHER ARCHIVED LOG DESTINATION ... BACKUP of
NOARCHIVELOG database

Hi all,

Currently using Oracle9.2.0.3 and using INIT.ORA, not SPFILE, and
database
is in ARCHIVELOG mode. My standby database is still bsaed on the old
Oracle8i concepts and have only one destination configured for archived
redo
logs. My question is I want to be able to create a second destination
path
of the archived redo logs, do I need to bounce the server after setting
this
second destination path. How about if am using SPFILE, do I need to
bounce
the database also?

How about the backup of NOARCHIVELOG database? Is import/export the
only
solution beside having to do a cold backup regularly?
