Re: Zulu Timestamps and Oracle

Re: Zulu Timestamps and Oracle

Hi Anthony,

Depending on what the timestamps stand for :

20050120232143015Z or 20050203171600Z-0400

You chop off the Z for the first format and use the TO_TIMESTAMP function.
The FF part gives you the fractional seconds.
For the second format I'm not sure what the 0400 stands for. Is it 4
timezones earlier than the zulu timestamp ? If so you will have to
subtract 4 hours of the timestamp field.

create table tester (date2 timestamp);

DECLARE
date1 timestamp;

BEGIN
date1 := TO_TIMESTAMP('20050120:23:21:43:015',
'YYYYMMDD:HH24:MI:SS:FF3');

insert into tester values (date1);

END;
