You could have these students use the export/import and save the database creation script as well. Just running the db creation script shouldnt take too long.

Yes, export works well for those students who use the default database,
bank. Some students create their own database and work on that. In their
case, they need to recreate the database before import - that takes time
during the class. I was hoping to eliminate the db creation time during the
class.

Ever tried using a database export? You could schedule a nightly database
export and then save the dump for restoring your database after the ghosting
activity takes place. This is also a nice solution for creating a
development copy of your current production database.
