I am trying to create a database on a Win2k box with 9.2.0.4 on it. I
am hoping this just a newbie problem, and easily overcome. I am getting
the following error:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
ORA-00200: controlfile could not be created
ORA-00202: controlfile: 'e:\oracle\ora9i\oradata\ADV32\cADV32_01.ctl'
ORA-27040: skgfrcre: create error, unable to create file
OSD-04002: unable to open file
O/S-Error: (OS 5) Access is denied.
I've determined the following.
1.) The account is the administrator account and is in the ora_dba group
2.) The directory path is valid in that oracle\ora9i\oradata\ADV32\
exists
3.) The E: is a disk on the local machine not a mapped/shared drive.
4.) I am able to create a file in that folder, verifying that I have the
ability to write to the directory path
I've tried using ORACLE_HOME in the path in the pfile, but removed it
when I got the same error message. This last attempt I tried using the
absolute path. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Using the database
assistance tool (or not specifying a control file, allowing Oracle to
create a default control file), I can create the database.
Thanks,
Bryan Rountree
