Subject: No recovery catalog in rman ?

If I choose not to create a recovery catalog in RMAN
for my backups, Does it make a difference to RMAN or Oracle about doing a
Full backup versus an incremental ?

I am used to always having a catlog, but for one small system they don't
want one created. So if RMAN is just reading the control file, how does
RMAN keep track of
the full backup information or incremental ?

Should I just do a full backup every time ?

Appreciate your explanation about this -
